Odyssey reproduces all 1,174 station identities in the official Q4 Detailed Stats workbook and reconciles tested provincial and national totals. SAPS separately states that the release draws on 1,175 police stations, so one source-count discrepancy remains documented rather than inferred away.

National improvement did not reach every province or station.
Murder fell 9.5% nationally and carjacking fell 20.4%, while North West murder rose 18.9%. Alexandra carjacking (+103%), Bishop Lavis murder (+60%) and Walmer murder (+50%) moved sharply against the national direction.
SAPS states that the release draws on 1 175 police stations. The downloadable Detailed Stats workbook contains 1 174 station-level statistical identities, and Odyssey imports all 1 174. Province counts and tested national category totals reconcile. The one-station release-versus-workbook difference remains unresolved, so Odyssey does not invent a 1,175th row.
The current SAPS contact directory remains secondary operational identity context, not Q4 crime-value evidence.

Crime values are sourced from the South African Police Service Q4 2025/26 Crime Statistics workbook (Jan–Mar 2026), published at saps.gov.za/services/crimestats.php. The explorer can switch between the exact Q4 2025/26 and Q4 2024/25 station counts carried in the reconciled workbook rows. V3.2 compares those two matched Q4 periods and does not present them as a multi-quarter trend. Year-on-year movement is shown only for the current period because the dataset does not contain the earlier Q4 2023/24 comparison required to calculate a prior-period trend. Percentage mover rankings require at least 10 reported incidents in the prior period to reduce tiny-denominator distortion; that is an Odyssey presentation threshold, not a SAPS classification. The interactive map uses the verified 41-station coordinate subset; all imported workbook rows remain searchable and available on their static station profiles. Coordinates are approximate and are used for mapping only.
